Nufarul termal – The water lily
Few people know that in Romania, near Oradea at Felix Baths there is a reservation of thermal lilies unique in Europe.
This flower grows in a pool filled by a hot spring called Peta. The water lily is a subtropical
plant similar to the Lotus from the Nile`s waters. It is supposed that the seeds were brought here by Turks or by the migrate birds and they burgeon because of the thermal water.
The water lily flowers open up their leaves only in crepuscule and in the morning, when the water`s temperature passes over 30ْC, the flowers close to protect themselves.
Nymphaea Lotus or the thermal water lily was declared natural monument in 1931. It is also the symbol of Felix baths a small spa city located 8km from Oradea, in the North-West part of Romania.
It`s great to spend one weekend in Felix, enjoy the sun and see the flowers.

The Black Eagle Palace, was built in the Union Square in the years 1907-1909, on the base of an old inn having the same name.
A characteristic of this pile is the passage with glass which makes the connection between three streets and also the stained glass window representing the town symbol, the eagle. This bird represent the power and that`s why many institutions like the churches, the Royal families and empires had it.
The style of decorating the palace has two main themes: the one with curved lines and flower motives and the geometrical one.
